Chilean Pavilion at ExpoMilán neutralize their CO2 emissions

“The Love of Chile ” is the name given to the Pavilion that represents Chile in Expo Milano 2015, event that started from May 01 until October 31 of this year 2015.

This event aims to be a space of discussion of one of the most problematics scenarios of the XXI century; crisis on alimentation and the resources of our planet. The idea is to open space for dialog between the international actors, so they can change different point of view of this big challenges that concerns everybody.

The Chilean Pavilion, counts with more tan 2000m2, simulate an interactive audiovisual tour, which is expected to bring to the public an experience of the “affection chain” of production of gastronomic tradition. It will seek to show the most diverse sides of Chile, where it will give a unique experience, taking every single person to different scenarios, landscapes and cultures.

Rather than being able to deliver knowledge on product diversity, traditions and people, will take advantage the instance to internalize the public, developing a living experience, interactive and through the senses.

The Chilean Pavilion built on noblest and emblematic materials of the country, under this context, Arauco contribute their innovation and skills in wood construction, which include structural materials such as MSD, laminated beams and melamine Hilam VESTO, innovative product that contains antimicrobial copper, having wood as a leading actor.

For this event, the Chilean Pavilion at ExpoMilan 2015, Arauco together with the Chilean Organization, will mitigate the impact through neutralization of CO2e  emissions, where the measurement consider installation and materials of the Pavilion. The resulting emissions will be neutralized with carbon credits from the project Energy Generation from Biomass, Valdivia. This project involves the generation of electricity from biomass, certified under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). It is located in the Province of Valdivia, Los Ríos Region, Chile. As part of the process, the result will be verified by an independent third party, in this case Deloitte – and with that result, SCX proceed with the publication and removal of carbon credits in the international registration.
