This neutralization of carbon emissions were equivalent to 5,303 tons of CO2, which was finalized by purchasing carbon credits reductions certifed under VCS | Verified Carbon Standard of REDD + project in concessions Chestnuts and Madre de Dios.

This project seeks to end the ongoing deforestation that is happening in the concessions for the construction of the Interoceanic Highway, which is attracting a significant migration from the southern part of the Andes. The new migrants often occupy lands of the concessionaires (who are the most vulnerable) to live or establish agricultural areas, contributing to social tensions. Is important to emphasize that this project protects an area considered as hotspots of biodiversity, providing habitat for endangered species.

Boques Amazonónicos -BAM-  has associated with the Federation of Madre de Dios Castañeros conducting efforts to prevent deforestation in Castaña concessions. The objective of the REDD project is to protect 500,000 hectares of concessions.
