Sunrise of Concha & Toro, becomes a 100% CO2 Neutral brand worldwide

As an integral part of the objectives related to sustainable development, in 2007 C&T winery began the implementation of engineering systems in order to monitor carbon dioxide emissions and the environmental impacts of their production processes.

Currently, C&T monitors 100% of the carbon footprint associated with production processes of all their wines.

After participating in the development of the first Latin American Climate Exchange, in 2011 C&T conducted the first transaction of SCX, Santiago Climate Exchange, certifying their brand “Sunrise” as a CO2 Neutral wine for the Scandinavian market.

In 2017, C&T has strengthened its commitment becoming Sunrise a CO2 Neutral brand worldwide, using for this purpose accredited internal reductions of its carbon footprint -insetting-.

  • Number of tons CO2: 4.035 (period 2017)
  • Vigency date: 04-25-2019
  • Carbon footprint Mesurer: Concha & Toro vineyard
  • Foorprint Verificator: Deloitte
  • Reduction project: Internal Reductions
  • Registry: SCX

The conversion process of a CO2 Neutral product requires that all production and delivery processes are fully monitored and adapted to international standards.

The footprint measurements start at the time when raw materials are introduced into the process, continuing throughout the fermentation process until the wine reaches the distribution warehouses. Since 2010, the gradual introduction of the lightweight bottle format has generated important savings in glass consumption as well as savings in fuel consumption for transport, becoming a pioneer initiative in the development of solutions, jointly with suppliers, that contribute to reduce carbon emissions.
