    \nLand secured for natural flood storage (decreasing the detrimental impacts of floods)
    \nCritical habitat was maintained for wildlife, including 26 threatened and endangered species.<\/p>\n

    Community benefits include:
    \n-Facilitate community outreach and education.
    \n-Employ local community members as forest guards or other project staff, thus replacing other sources of income associated with deforestation and land use.
    \n-Provide agricultural extension training to help increase productivity on existing lands, thereby reducing pressure to expand farms into adjacent forests.
    \n-Construction of a local processing plant to industrialize a\u00e7ai production.
    \n-Modernization of community cassava houses
