Con esta energ\u00eda, es posible cubrir la demanda de electricidad de 80.000 personas.<\/p>\n<p>La central Hornitos se ubica en cascada con tres centrales m\u00e1s ubicadas aguas abajo &#8211; Aconcagua, Los Quilos y Chacabuquito &#8211; las que han sido operadas exitosamente desde 1994, 1939 y 2002 respectivamente.<\/p>\n<p><b>Beneficios Socio-Ambientales<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Desde el punto de vista ambiental, la central utiliza una fuente limpia y renovable de energ\u00eda, como son las corrientes del r\u00edo Aconcagua, con lo cual se evitan emisiones de CO2 a la atm\u00f3sfera en una tasa anual de 66.318 toneladas. Adem\u00e1s, el proyecto contempla la reforestaci\u00f3n de 2,65 ha con especies de bosque nativas.<\/p>\n<p>En t\u00e9rminos sociales, durante la construcci\u00f3n de la central se generaron 1.200 puestos de trabajo, y 15 puestos permanentes para su operaci\u00f3n, todos cubiertos con mano de obra local.<\/p>\n<p>Finalmente, el proyecto Hornitos ha certificado sus reducciones bajo el Mecanismo de Desarrollo Limpio de las Naciones Unidas (CDM, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) y por el Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), dos de los est\u00e1ndares m\u00e1s relevantes a nivel internacional.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=\u00bb645&#8243;
