Renewable Attributes Certification
I-REC(E) for Electricity

I-REC(E) is an Energy Attribute Certificate(EAC) that conveys information about the generation of a megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable energy produced, identifying where the electricity was produced, the capacity of the production facility and the energy source from which it came.

I-REC(E) is immersed in the Tracking System of the I-TRACK Foundation. I-TRACK Foundation, which has developed a globally recognized Standard so that different stakeholders can benefit from harmonization, recognition and independent third party certification to support their disclosures.

I-REC(E) Certification is operational in more than 60 countries, and has a Local Issuer in each country to comply with its International Standard.

Since 2018, SCX has been the local issuer for Chile.

In this section you can find relevant information to better understand how I-REC(E) Certification works in Chile.

SCX is the Local Issuer of I-REC(E) in Chile.

Since its inception, I-REC(E) certification in Chile has experienced sustained and significant growth, both regionally and globally.

This development responds to the convergence of two key factors: on the one hand, Chile has a diverse and expanding energy matrix, with a strong role for renewable energies -especially solar energy- thanks to the highest solar radiation in the world; and on the other hand, a highly export-oriented economy, which encourages companies to adopt recognized international market instruments to demonstrate their competitive advantages and commitments to sustainability.

SCX, in its role as Local Issuer and Sustainability Partner, advises Chilean generating companies, providing added value to the production of renewable energies. This allows them to deliver to their customers, electricity with the renewable attribute certified from its source of origin, under a recognized international seal.

In this section you will find the Plants/Power Plants that have been registered under the I-REC(E) Certification in Chile.

I-REC(E) Certification is recognized by leading global initiatives such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), CDP and RE100 as a robust tool for credible and auditable monitoring instruments for use worldwide.

I-REC(E) Certificates can be used for a variety of requirements (voluntary and mandatory), including Scope 2 Carbon Footprint measurement reports, national energy reports and general end-consumer declarations, enabling all electricity users to make a conscious and evidence-based choice.
