Together we offset your carbon footprint from fuel consumption!

COPEC invites its customers to join the climate challenge through the program “Compensa tu Huella” (“Offset your Footprint”). “Compensa tu Huella” (“Offset your Footprint”)available on its App, which allows to voluntarily offset the emissions generated by the consumption of fuels.

As a major player in the energy market in Chile and Colombia – and with a presence in the US. and other Latin American countries, COPEC has taken on a climate strategy of profound transformation. Its commitment is that, by 2050, more than 50% of its portfolio will be made up of renewable energy solutions.

In the short term, the company has set itself the goal of achieving carbon neutrality in its direct emissions (scopes 1 and 2) by 2030. carbon neutrality in its direct emissions (scopes 1 and 2) by 2030. However, aware that most of its footprint corresponds to scope 3, derived from the use of its products by customers, COPEC has implemented a voluntary non-profit offset program, in which it covers 50% of the cost of neutralization.

This program also seeks to educate users about their impact on mobility and the calculation of their carbon footprint. For this purpose, COPEC has developed a robust methodology based on life cycle analysis, which considers not only emissions from combustion, but also those generated from the extraction, processing and distribution of the fuel.

To ensure the traceability and transparency of the neutralization process, COPEC has relied on the experience of SCX, Santiago Climate Exchange, which has designed and verified a clear and reliable route, guaranteeing that 100% of the users’ contribution is destined to emission reduction projects certified under international standards..
