In order to become a more sustainable company and contribute to mitigate the impacts of climate change, LAN Colombia measured the carbon footprint associated with direct and indirect activities related to its land operations and transportation in order to neutralize these emissions.

The scope of the company’s measurement in Colombia considered all activities that generate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, such as emissions from air operations, ground equipment (gasoline and diesel consumption), air conditioning equipment, electricity consumption in sales and administration offices, emissions from employee transportation and business air travel.
LAN Colombia’s emissions verification was carried out by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR), a world leader in the certification of management systems, products and services. The neutralization of carbon emissions was equivalent to 1,017 tons of CO2 , which was achieved through the purchase of carbon credits, reductions certified under the VCS|Verified Carbon Standard of the REDD+ Chocó-Darién Conservation Corridor project.
