On August 9, 2011, Capital Magazine held its first sustainability seminar, an event that brought together around 650 businessmen, executives, academics and political and environmental leaders to discuss the implications of economic, environmental and social sustainability in Chile and the world. Richard Jackson, in charge of sustainability at the London 2012 Olympic Games, also spoke, among other important speakers. In addition, the event obtained CO2 SCX Neutral, whereby all emissions associated with the event were measured, verified by an independent third party, and neutralized through the purchase of equivalent carbon credits generated by the Lircay run-of-river hydroelectric power plant.
