Corpbanca becomes the first bank in Chile to neutralize emissions corresponding to one year of operation (2010). This initiative is part of its challenge to be one of the best banks in Chile, within the framework of its responsibility to the community and the environment.

CorpBanca, in its concern for the environment, measured in 2010 the direct and indirect emission of greenhouse gases (CO2) of the company, establishing an annual Carbon Footprint of CorpBanca, considering its central buildings and all its branches, of 8,632 tons. The measurement considered direct emissions generated by sources owned or controlled by the company, emissions derived from the generation of electricity used in its operations (by its own or controlled equipment), and other emissions resulting from the company’s activities (paper consumption, storage of documents, transportation of employees, transport of bags, etc.). CorpBanca, through SCX, acquired an equivalent amount of carbon credits from the Chilean project Central Hidroeléctrica Lircay, becoming the first bank in Chile to neutralize its Carbon Footprint for one year. The challenge now is to continue reducing its Carbon Footprint, working hard on its main sources of emissions, for which it has the commitment of the highest authorities and all its collaborators.
