Viña Emilia and Greenticket supported 19 restaurants in obtaining their certification.

Viña Emiliana, committed to the sustainable development of the country and its corporate activities, has developed this initiative in conjunction with Greenticket, to support small and medium-sized restaurants, allowing them to know and neutralize their organizational carbon footprint. This process allows them to identify their main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the impact of their activities on the planet’s resources.

Summary of the initiative
  • SCX Code: 0039-E3604A23
  • Initiative of: Emilia Winery
  • Neutralization object: Gastronomic Route
  • Volume tonCO2: 1,207 tCO2
  • Effective Date: 25-08-2014
  • Footprint meter: Greenticket – MASSO
  • Footprint verifier: Deloitte
  • Abatement Project: BAESA Hydroelectric Power Plant
  • Registration: Markit

The participating restaurants were: Kilómetro Cero, La Percanta, Ciudadano, Ciudad Vieja, Mamboleta, from the Metropolitan Region; Pasta e Vino, Samsara, Calipso, Fauna, Bendita Pasta, Paparazzo from the Valparaíso Region; and Puro Toro (Puerto Varas), Eolia (Puerto Varas), Paréntesis (Puerto Varas), Pa` Mar Adentro (Puerto Montt), Fogón de Pepe (Puerto Montt), La Marca (Puerto Varas), Bravo Cabrera (Puerto Varas), Cassis (Puerto Varas) from the Lakes Region.

Through this initiative, the restaurants measured their Carbon Footprint, using internationally recognized quantification methodologies. The carbon footprint was verified by an independent third party, and the resulting CO2 emissions volume was neutralized through the purchase of carbon credits.

Knowing their carbon footprint allows companies to start by knowing where the carbon emissions resulting from their activity are, and from there to consider strategies to start managing them in order to reduce and neutralize them.

The entire management of the purchase of carbon credits associated with the campaign and their subsequent withdrawal from the International Registry is guaranteed by SCX, Bolsa de Clima de Santiago S.A.

The total sum of carbon emissions was 1,207 tCO2e, and included scope 1, 2 and 3 for each organization, and were verified by Deloitte, considering that the main sources of GHG emissions were those generated by electricity consumption and employee commuting to work.
