In 2010, afirma’s “Environment” area began measuring its carbon footprint in order to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. The measurement of the corporate carbon footprint was carried out under the GHG Protocol standards.

The verification of the carbon footprint was carried out by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR), while the neutralization was achieved through the purchase of certified CO2 capture bonds from a reforestation project with native species in Ucayalli. Peru, of the company Bosques Amazónicos (SAM), thus fulfilling all the requirements for the “CO Neutral” certification under the international standard SOX Bols de Clima de Santiago.
