The Ministry of the Environment has identified that the linkage and alliances between the public and private sectors are key in the search for cost-effective greenhouse gas mitigation alternatives in the country.

This is why the Climate Change Officeis in charge of the design, implementation and administration of the National Carbon Management Program (PGCARBONO) with the objective of supporting and promoting the management and voluntary quantification of greenhouse gas emissions at the corporate level, whether in the public and/or private sector, providing the appropriate tools for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions. carbon footprint standardized reporting formats, assistance in the design of mitigation plans and ongoing monitoring.

On this occasion, the National Carbon Management Program wanted the carbon emissions from this activity to be neutralized through the SCX process. This process consists of the following stages: measurement, which on this occasion will be carried out by Poch Ambiental; verification by an independent third party – Deloitte; and compensation will be carried out through carbon credits, which come from effective emission reductions that have been certified by international organizations, and once the process is completed, they will be removed from the international registry and assigned to the neutralization of this initiative.

The main objective of the activity will be to motivate the attendees to participate in the program’s pilot project and in the feedback instances defined to receive the observations and concerns of various sectors and stakeholders.

On this occasion, the workshop will be attended by groups of companies that have identified the risks and opportunities of climate change and are taking a proactive approach to the phenomenon. Giving an overview of the costs and benefits of incorporating this variable in business management.

On the other hand, the conceptual development of the National Carbon Management Program will be presented to the attendees, its objectives, international experiences, technical and methodological bases and especially the progress of the program, the next stages of development and the web platform that has been developed to concentrate the information of the emissions report.
