Feria Chile es TUYO 2013, a CO2 neutral event

SERNATUR is working hard to contribute to the growth of tourism in Chile, always within a sustainable framework. To this end, since 2010, when the Sustainability Sub-Unit was created within the Territory and Environment Unit (Studies Sub-Directorate), several initiatives have been developed along these lines. One of them has been the decision to learn about and mitigate the impact of one of the most important events that are managed as part of its promotional efforts, which is the National Tourism Fair – Chile is Yours, given that although this fair contributes to the dissemination of Sustainable Tourism, the convening and production of an event of this magnitude entails the generation of carbon emissions.

For this reason, SERNATUR has decided for the second consecutive year to neutralize carbon emissions and certify its process with SCX. The carbon credits that will be used come from effective emission reductions that have been certified by international organizations, and once the certification process is completed, they will be removed from the international registry to be registered associated with the neutralization of this initiative.
