Hotel Gen obtains CO2 neutral certification under SCX standard

This year, as part of their team’s commitment and as an internal effort, they have not only measured their carbon footprint, but this time they have gone even further by obtaining the SCX CO2 Neutral. This internal effort, which included the measurement of its footprint considering scopes 1, 2, and 3, also considered the verification of an independent third party as part of the SCX certification process, which gives transparency to the result obtained.

Hotel GEN, in order to neutralize carbon emissions from its operation and services, chose the Baesa hydroelectric project, located in the southern part of Brazil, between the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, which generates electricity for Brazil’s National Interconnected System (SIN), thus meeting the growing demand for electricity due to the country’s economic and demographic growth.

This breakthrough in terms of commitment is in addition to a series of initiatives that Hotel GEN has been carrying out, such as the Vertical Vineyard, a green wall made up of grape vines, unique in Chile, which allows guests to learn about the different grape varieties in their rooms; the implementation of solar thermal panels on the facade of the facilities; and Punto Green, a recycling system that is available to its passengers where their waste is removed by specialized companies, transforming it into raw materials to be used in new packaging, thus completing the cycle; and Punto Green, a recycling system that is available to its passengers where their waste is removed by companies specialized in the subject, transforming it into raw materials to be used in new containers, thus completing the cycle; among other initiatives that can be found on its website.
