Currently, C&T monitors 100% of the carbon footprint associated with all of its wine production processes.

In addition, the company has joined the Business Ambition for 1.5ºC initiative, committing to achieving zero net emissions by 2050.

Concha y Toro is a company that annually measures its carbon footprint under the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol) under an operational control approach, including direct emissions that come mainly from the use of fuels, land use and refrigerant gases, as well as indirect emissions resulting from activities not directly controlled by the company, such as transportation of supplies, product distribution and business travel.

In 2020, reductions were recorded as a direct consequence of initiatives for 18,715 tonsCO2 , which are associated with projects for the use of renewable energies and reduction of emissions from the use of refrigerant gases.

Previously

In 2011 C&T carried out the first transaction of SCX, Santiago Climate Exchange, certifying its Sunrise brand as a CO2 Neutral wine for the Scandinavian market.

In 2014, C&T reinforced its commitment by making Sunrise a CO2 Neutral globally, using accredited internal reductions of its carbon footprint -insetting- for this purpose.

The conversion process of a CO2 Neutral product requires that all production and distribution processes are fully monitored and adapted to international standards.

Carbon footprint measurements start from the moment the raw materials are introduced into the process, continuing throughout the fermentation process, until the wine reaches the distribution cellars. Since 2010, the gradual introduction of the lightweight bottle format has allowed savings not only in glass consumption, but also in transportation fuel consumption, and therefore has been a pioneering initiative in the development, together with its suppliers, of solutions that contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.
